LED Helipad Lighting Products Successfully Delivered: LB-HP-I and LB-HP-F1
A batch of LED helipad lighting products was recently completed and delivered to our customer, including the LB-HP-I LED Helipad Light and LB-HP-F1 LED Helipad Surface Flood Light.
For this shipment, the LB-HP-I was supplied in white and green, while the LB-HP-F1 uses a white light source. Both products are designed for helipad lighting applications, with different mounting styles and lighting functions to suit different areas of a helipad.
LB-HP-I: Recessed LED Helipad Light
The LB-HP-I features a recessed design that sits nearly flush with the helipad surface after installation. This makes it well suited for locations where ground-level lighting guidance is required while keeping the surface profile low.
Depending on the lighting layout, the LB-HP-I can be used for aiming point lighting, FATO and TLOF perimeter lighting, taxiway lighting, and flight path alignment guidance. Its 360° horizontal omnidirectional light distribution provides clear visual guidance from different directions.
The LB-HP-I supplied for this order was configured in white and green. Other light colors are also available depending on project requirements.
The light uses an LED source with a service life of more than 100,000 hours and carries an IP68 protection rating. It is designed to operate in temperatures from -55°C to 70°C. The product design is based on relevant requirements in ICAO Annex 14, Volume II, 5.3, making it suitable for outdoor helipad and heliport lighting applications.
LB-HP-F1: LED Helipad Surface Flood Light
Unlike the recessed LB-HP-I, the LB-HP-F1 uses a surface-mounted design and is primarily intended for overall helipad surface illumination.
The light can be installed around the perimeter or at other suitable locations to project light across the landing and takeoff area, providing broad illumination for nighttime helicopter operations.
The LB-HP-F1 uses a white LED light source with a 90° horizontal beam angle and an approximate illumination range of 25–30 meters. Its light intensity can reach >10 cd/m². The wide beam helps cover a larger portion of the helipad while maintaining even illumination and controlled glare.
The housing is made of powder-coated stainless steel and provides IP66 protection. The LED source has a service life of more than 100,000 hours, with an operating temperature range of -55°C to 70°C. The light is designed for long-term continuous operation.
Its design takes into account relevant aviation lighting requirements, including ICAO Annex 14, Volume II, 5.3.9, FAA AC 150/5390-2B Heliport Design Guide, and CAP437, making it suitable for a range of helipad and heliport lighting projects.
Two Lighting Solutions for Different Helipad Areas
The combination of the LB-HP-I and LB-HP-F1 in the same order reflects the different lighting requirements found across a helipad.
The LB-HP-I is primarily used for ground-level visual guidance, with its recessed structure suited to locations such as the aiming point, FATO, TLOF perimeter, and taxiway.
The LB-HP-F1, on the other hand, is designed for overall surface illumination, using a surface-mounted installation and wide beam to light the landing and takeoff area.
Depending on the helipad layout and lighting plan, the two products can be installed in different areas or used together within the same project.
Designed for Long-Term Outdoor Operation
The two lights feature different housing designs and configurations for long-term outdoor use.
The LB-HP-I uses a die-cast aluminum housing with IP68 protection, while the LB-HP-F1 features a powder-coated stainless steel housing with IP66 protection.
Both products use long-life LED sources rated for more than 100,000 hours and are designed for continuous operation. Light color, power supply, and other functional options can also be configured to meet specific project requirements.
Product Configuration and Delivery
The products were configured according to the customer's project requirements before shipment. The LB-HP-I was supplied in white and green, while the LB-HP-F1 was supplied with a white light source.
After final inspection, the products were carefully packed and shipped to the customer, completing the delivery as planned.
For helipad lighting projects, selecting the right fixture depends on factors such as installation location, lighting function, light color, beam distribution, and project design requirements. Matching the fixture to the intended application helps ensure that different areas of the helipad receive the appropriate type of illumination.
The LB-HP-I and LB-HP-F1 provide two practical lighting options for different helipad applications, from recessed ground-level guidance to broader surface illumination.
